Bayside Municipal Court serves the residents of Refugio County, the 119th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Bayside Municipal Court was first built in 1855 in the Refugio Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1885. Four courthouses have been built in Bayside. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
