Kemah Municipal Court serves the residents of Galveston County, the 104th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Kemah district clerk and county clerk. The current Kemah Municipal Court judge has been in office since 2012 and has dedicated his life serving the Kemah. Kemah Municipal Court was first built in 1898 in the Galveston Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1898. Four courthouses have been built in Kemah. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
