Alvin Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Brazoria County, the 189th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Alvin district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Alvin Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2011 and has dedicated his life serving the Alvin. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Brazoria County Courthouse. The Alvin Justice of Peace Court is located on 260 George Street in the city of Alvin, the Brazoria county seat.

The administration of justice in the Alvin Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Brazoria County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Brazoria County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Alvin Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1873 in the Brazoria Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1889. Four courthouses have been built in Alvin. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 281-331-3524 or fax 281-756-0830 to the court during office hours to get more information.
