Friendswood Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1853 in the Galveston Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1902. Four courthouses have been built in Friendswood. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
