Angelina District Court serves the residents of Angelina County, the 108th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Angelina District Court was first built in 1887 in the Angelina Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1892. Four courthouses have been built in Lufkin. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
