Wood County Court serves the residents of Wood County, the 143th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Quitman district clerk and county clerk. The current Wood County Court judge has been in office since 2017 and has dedicated his life serving the Quitman. Wood County Court was first built in 1895 in the Wood Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1904. Four courthouses have been built in Quitman. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
