Hawkins Municipal Court serves the residents of Wood County, the 143th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Hawkins Municipal Court was first built in 1857 in the Wood Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1883. Four courthouses have been built in Hawkins. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
