Bridgeport Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1870 in the Wise Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1919. Four courthouses have been built in Bridgeport. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
