Alvord Municipal Court serves the residents of Wise County, the 42th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Alvord Municipal Court was first built in 1897 in the Wise Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1899. Four courthouses have been built in Alvord. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
