Wharton Municipal Court serves the residents of Wharton County, the 228th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Wharton Municipal Court was first built in 1905 in the Wharton Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1890. Four courthouses have been built in Wharton. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
