Washington District Court I was first built in 1907 in the Washington Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in February 1917. Four courthouses have been built in Brenham. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
