Chappell Hill Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1911 in the Washington Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1896. Four courthouses have been built in Chappell Hill. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
