Edgewood Municipal Court serves the residents of Van Zandt County, the 109th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Edgewood Municipal Court was first built in 1875 in the Van Zandt Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1902. Four courthouses have been built in Edgewood. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
