Downtown Austin Community Court was first built in 1893 in the Travis Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1882. Four courthouses have been built in Austin. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
