Throckmorton County Court was first built in 1908 in the Throckmorton Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in May 1918. Four courthouses have been built in Throckmorton. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
