Terrell County Court serves the residents of Terrell County, the 180th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Terrell County Court was first built in 1862 in the Terrell Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1867. Four courthouses have been built in Sanderson. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
