Glen Rose Municipal Court was first built in 1871 in the Somervell Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1881. Four courthouses have been built in Glen Rose. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
