Troup Municipal Court was first built in 1865 in the Smith Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1904. Four courthouses have been built in Troup. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
