Arp Municipal Court serves the residents of Smith County, the 18th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Arp Municipal Court was first built in 1907 in the Smith Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1915. Four courthouses have been built in Arp. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
