Sherman County Court serves the residents of Sherman County, the 40th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Stratford district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Sherman County Court judge has been in office since 2010 and has dedicated his life serving the Stratford. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Sherman County Courthouse. The Sherman County Court is located on 701 North 3rd Street in the city of Stratford, the Sherman county seat.

The administration of justice in the Sherman County Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Sherman County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Sherman County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Sherman County Court was first built in 1909 in the Sherman Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1869. Four courthouses have been built in Stratford. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 806-366-2021 or fax 806-366-3011 to the court during office hours to get more information.
