Sherman County Court serves the residents of Sherman County, the 40th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Stratford district clerk and county clerk. Sherman County Court was first built in 1909 in the Sherman Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1869. Four courthouses have been built in Stratford. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
