Tenaha Municipal Court was first built in 1883 in the Shelby Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1869. Four courthouses have been built in Tenaha. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
