Joaquin Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1904 in the Shelby Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in November 1870. Four courthouses have been built in Joaquin. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
