Scurry County Court was first built in 1876 in the Scurry Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1852. Four courthouses have been built in Snyder. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
