Sabine County Court serves the residents of Sabine County, the 157th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Hemphill district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Sabine County Court judge has been in office since 2016 and has dedicated his life serving the Hemphill. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Sabine County Courthouse. The Sabine County Court is located on 201 Main Street in the city of Hemphill, the Sabine county seat.

The administration of justice in the Sabine County Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Sabine County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Sabine County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Sabine County Court was first built in 1898 in the Sabine Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1917. Four courthouses have been built in Hemphill. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call to the court during office hours to get more information.
