Hemphill Municipal Court was first built in 1903 in the Sabine Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1917. Four courthouses have been built in Hemphill. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
