Tatum Municipal Court serves the residents of Rusk County, the 23th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Tatum Municipal Court was first built in 1920 in the Rusk Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1885. Four courthouses have been built in Tatum. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
