Rains County Court serves the residents of Rains County, the 178th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Rains County Court was first built in 1908 in the Rains Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1874. Four courthouses have been built in Emory. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
