Point Municipal Court serves the residents of Rains County, the 178th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Point Municipal Court was first built in 1918 in the Rains Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in December 1893. Four courthouses have been built in Point. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
