Amarillo Justice of Peace Court IV serves the residents of Potter County, the 44th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Amarillo district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Amarillo Justice of Peace Court IV judge has been in office since 2014 and has dedicated his life serving the Amarillo. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Potter County Courthouse. The Amarillo Justice of Peace Court IV is located on 743 North Taylor Street in the city of Amarillo, the Potter county seat.

The administration of justice in the Amarillo Justice of Peace Court IV is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Potter County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Potter County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site http://www.co.potter.tx.us/default.aspx?Potter_County/District.Court.320.

Amarillo Justice of Peace Court IV was first built in 1915 in the Potter Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1917. Four courthouses have been built in Amarillo. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 806-379-2817 or fax 806-379-2829 to the court during office hours to get more information.
