Livingston Justice of Peace Court II serves the residents of Polk County, the 226th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Livingston district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Livingston Justice of Peace Court II judge has been in office since 2019 and has dedicated his life serving the Livingston. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Polk County Courthouse. The Livingston Justice of Peace Court II is located on 602 East Church Street in the city of Livingston, the Polk county seat.

The administration of justice in the Livingston Justice of Peace Court II is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Polk County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Polk County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Livingston Justice of Peace Court II was first built in 1868 in the Polk Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in February 1851. Four courthouses have been built in Livingston. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 906-327-6865 or fax 906-327-6861 to the court during office hours to get more information.
