Bishop Municipal Court serves the residents of Nueces County, the 218th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Bishop Municipal Court was first built in 1872 in the Nueces Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1848. Four courthouses have been built in Bishop. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
