Loraine Municipal Court serves the residents of Mitchell County, the 52th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Loraine Municipal Court was first built in 1906 in the Mitchell Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1894. Four courthouses have been built in Loraine. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
