Shallowater Municipal Court was first built in 1910 in the Lubbock Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1903. Four courthouses have been built in Shallowater. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
