Idalou Municipal Court serves the residents of Lubbock County, the 86th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Idalou Municipal Court was first built in 1854 in the Lubbock Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in February 1861. Four courthouses have been built in Idalou. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
