Lipscomb Justice of Peace Court serves the residents of Lipscomb County, the 30th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Booker district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Lipscomb Justice of Peace Court judge has been in office since 2013 and has dedicated his life serving the Booker. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Lipscomb County Courthouse. The Lipscomb Justice of Peace Court is located on 101 South Main Street in the city of Booker, the Lipscomb county seat.

The administration of justice in the Lipscomb Justice of Peace Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Lipscomb County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Lipscomb County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Lipscomb Justice of Peace Court was first built in 1878 in the Lipscomb Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1872. Four courthouses have been built in Booker. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 806-862-3844 or fax 806-862-2603 to the court during office hours to get more information.
