Mexia Municipal Court serves the residents of Limestone County, the 27th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Mexia Municipal Court was first built in 1847 in the Limestone Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1901. Four courthouses have been built in Mexia. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
