Liberty District Court serves the residents of Liberty County, the 216th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Liberty District Court was first built in 1908 in the Liberty Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1855. Four courthouses have been built in Liberty. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
