Moulton Municipal Court serves the residents of Lavaca County, the 10th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Moulton Municipal Court was first built in 1856 in the Lavaca Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in July 1861. Four courthouses have been built in Moulton. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
