Lacava County Court serves the residents of Lavaca County, the 10th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Lacava County Court was first built in 1916 in the Lavaca Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1881. Four courthouses have been built in Hallettsville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
