Lacava County Court serves the residents of Lavaca County, the 10th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Hallettsville district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Lacava County Court judge has been in office since 2011 and has dedicated his life serving the Hallettsville. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Lavaca County Courthouse. The Lacava County Court is located on 102 North La Grange Street in the city of Hallettsville, the Lavaca county seat.

The administration of justice in the Lacava County Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Lavaca County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Lavaca County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Lacava County Court was first built in 1916 in the Lavaca Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1881. Four courthouses have been built in Hallettsville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 361-798-2301 or fax 361-798-5490 to the court during office hours to get more information.
