Paris Municipal Court serves the residents of Lamar County, the 28th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Paris Municipal Court was first built in 1888 in the Lamar Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1855. Four courthouses have been built in Paris. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
