Kimble District Court serves the residents of Kerr County, the 227th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Kimble District Court was first built in 1862 in the Kerr Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in April 1893. Four courthouses have been built in Kerrville. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
