Kent County Court serves the residents of Kent County, the 73th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Jayton district clerk and county clerk. Kent County Court was first built in 1864 in the Kent Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1908. Four courthouses have been built in Jayton. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
