Forney Municipal Court serves the residents of Kaufman County, the 121th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Forney Municipal Court was first built in 1897 in the Kaufman Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in August 1896. Four courthouses have been built in Forney. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
