Stamford Municipal Court was first built in 1894 in the Jones Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in January 1873. Four courthouses have been built in Stamford. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
