Jones County Court serves the residents of Jones County, the 25th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Jones County Court was first built in 1848 in the Jones Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1854. Four courthouses have been built in Anson. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
