Port Arthur Municipal Court was first built in 1905 in the Jefferson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1848. Four courthouses have been built in Port Arthur. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
