Groves Municipal Court serves the residents of Jefferson County, the 225th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Groves Municipal Court was first built in 1868 in the Jefferson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in March 1861. Four courthouses have been built in Groves. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
