Beaumont Municipal Court serves the residents of Jefferson County, the 225th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. Beaumont Municipal Court was first built in 1885 in the Jefferson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in June 1886. Four courthouses have been built in Beaumont. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
