Edna Municipal Court serves the residents of Jackson County, the 111th largest county in Texas state. The county falls in the third senatorial district and the 11th congressional district. As a result, it holds a very special role that makes it supported by both the Edna district clerk and county clerk. Issues that should be filed with the county clerk or the district clerk should be strictly filed within the respective courts; luckily, the staff is friendly and will help you through the process.

The current Edna Municipal Court judge has been in office since 2016 and has dedicated his life serving the Edna. The courts, the district clerk, and the county clerk’s office are located in the historic Jackson County Courthouse. The Edna Municipal Court is located on 126 East Main Street in the city of Edna, the Jackson county seat.

The administration of justice in the Edna Municipal Court is open, transparent, and open to the public. All the proceedings and acts of the court are recorded and maintained by the Jackson County Clerk’s Office.  The public can access the record online or by mailing the county clerk’s office located at Jackson County Courthouse. The requests are made by creating a written statement indicating a request for the records, the case number, and requisite application fees in a stamped self-addressed envelope. For more information about court proceedings, visit the court’s official site.

Edna Municipal Court was first built in 1874 in the Jackson Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in October 1881. Four courthouses have been built in Edna. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome. You can call 361-782-3122 to the court during office hours to get more information.
