Houston County Court at Law was first built in 1881 in the Houston Courthouse Square where the first sessions of the court were held alfresco underneath the boughs of oak trees in September 1908. Four courthouses have been built in Crockett. The current fourth courthouse is a great architectural marvel featuring a double-spiral staircase and a beautiful stained-glass montage in the dome.
